Frequently asked questions
What is a PTI label?
A PTI (Produce Traceability Initiative) label is a standardized case label used across the produce industry that carries a GS1-128 barcode encoding the GTIN and lot number — the same traceability lot code required under FSMA 204 — plus a human-readable Voice Pick Code, product name, pack date, and quantity, so every case can be tracked from field to retail dock.
What information is required on a PTI case label?
At minimum: a GS1-128 barcode with the GTIN (01) and lot/batch number (10), plus human-readable product name, pack size, pack date, and the Voice Pick Code. Many retailers also require PLU, UPC, and country of origin. This generator includes all of them.
Is this PTI label generator free?
Yes — it runs entirely in your browser with no signup, no software install, and no per-label fee. You can print at your exact label size on any printer, including thermal label printers.
Can I print PTI labels without installing software?
Yes. This tool generates the label as an SVG in your browser and prints directly from there — no desktop app, plugin, or install required, on Windows, Mac, or Linux.
